The Favorite:

Pool C features some nice balance, but the top seed MOKAN Elite (KS) enters the tournament as the favorite to advance out of pool play. MOKAN advanced to the Peach Jam Final Four a year ago, and they return 7-foot junior N'Faly Dante who will be looking to make amends. MOKAN found their stride late, and while they don't have a single dominant star offensively, head coach Rodney Perry has found a way to effectively tap into each individual player's talents. MOKAN is always a force to be reckoned with at Peach Jam, and it would be wise to keep an eye on their sophomore point point guard, budding superstar Kennedy Chandler.

The Contenders:

Defending Peach Jam champion Team Takeover (DC) has a terrific chance to reach bracket play, and they'll channel their veteran leadership and stacked rotation to attempt to make it a reality. Hunter Dickinson and Terrance Williams are both two-year Peach Jam veterans, and Takeover's frontcourt duo won't relinquish their crown without a fight. They are deep and talented, and Keith Stevens-led groups tend to find their stride late in the season. It would be a mistake not to include Woodz Elite as a viable contender, as the defending E16 champions put together a standout 10-3 record this spring. Woodz is led by Third Team All-EYBL performer Chris Moore and All-Breakout performer Jaylin Williams, and this defensive-minded team is super balanced across the board. Pro Skills (TX) and MeanStreets (IL) could definitely surprise, and they will need their stars to continue to shine. First Team All-EYBL performer Micah Peavy will do the heavy-lifting for Pro Skills, while Third Team All-EYBL selection DJ Steward will look to drop major buckets for MeanStreets.

The Sleeper:

It's hard to consider the AOT Running Rebels a sleeper, but after getting off to a slow start this spring, many wrote off the Georgia powerhouse. They rebounded in a big way during the final two sessions, with star junior BJ Boston earning session three Most Valuable Player honors. Veteran point guard Sharife Cooper was named First Team All-EYBL, and his presence on the court is as dynamic as it gets in grassroots basketball. The addition of swingman Devan Cambridge after the first session was huge for this rotation, and if they can figure out how to defend against teams with two bigs, then AOT has a great chance of advancing to bracket play after narrowly falling short a year ago.

Quick Hitters:

  • Team Takeover will be looking to win their 3rd Peach Jam Championship in 10 seasons. They feature 9 recruits ranked by 247 Sports.
  • Woodz Elite won the E16 Peach Jam crown a year ago, and the majority of their lineup returns. Third Team All-EYBL Chris Moore was the leader of that unit.
  • Sharife Cooper (19) and Brandon Boston Jr (7) are the highest-ranked backcourt in Augusta.
  • MOKAN Elite features two seven-footers; juniors N'Faly Dante and Davion Bradford.
  • KK Robinson made one of the biggest jumps this spring for Pro Skills, going from unranked to No. 92 in ESPN's most recent 2020 rankings.
